Have Some Family Fun at These Fall Fruit Festivals

Tara Carlson

Sep 22, 2017

When summer comes to an end, many of us feel like it’s time to throw on our winter coats and bunker down in our homes for the next few months. But even though the summer is ending, there’s still plenty you can do outside. Dare we say, you might even enjoy the great outdoors more now that the sun won’t be beating down on you. For that reason, towns across the country are preparing to celebrate the cooler weather, and the delicious autumn fruit that comes along with it, with these fall fruit festivals. So mark your calendar because these fall activities won’t be here forever!

Patterson Fruit Farm Fun Fest

When: September 16 - October 29, 2017

Where: Chesterland, OH

Race down the 50-foot double slide, test your skills in the corn maze, and explore the Patterson tree house at none other than Patterson Fruit Farm. While there’s certainly no shortage of excitement during the weekdays (with everything we mentioned above available) there’s even more fun to be had on the weekends, with pony and horse-drawn wagon rides throughout the farm!

Kelseyville Pear Festival

When: September 30, 2017

Where: Kelseyville, CA

Each year, the people of historic Kelseyville come together to celebrate their love of agriculture and to support local businesses and craftsmen. And while every year is more exciting than the next, this is the 25th anniversary of the festival, meaning it will certainly be the biggest one to date! With antique cars, tractors, and engines on display, as well as crafts and activities for the little ones, there’s something for everyone at this pear-loving festival.

Fall Fruit Exploratory Hike

When: October 1, 2017

Where: Bentleyville, OH

Though it’s not exactly a festival, per se, fruit lovers will still enjoy this two-mile nature hike throughout the woods around Look About Lodge. Hikers will get a special look at the wild fruit found in Ohio all while learning tips and tricks for starting their own garden at home. With an easy-to-maneuver terrain, this hike is great for people of all ages and skill levels.

Bridgeville Apple-Scrapple Festival

When: October 13-14, 2017

Where: Bridgeville, DE

Well known for their booming agricultural industry, Bridgeville ships their famous apples to towns and cities all across the country. In its 26 years, the Apple-Scrapple festival has grown from roughly 2,000 patrons to over 25,000 visitors as of last year — and it’s easy to see why! With food for as long as the eye can see, a car show, the Little Miss Apple Scrapple pageant, and a full carnival, the Apple-Scrapple festival is the biggest event held in Bridgeville.

Machado Orchard’s 7th Annual Apple Festival

When: October 15, 2017

Where: Bowman, CA

Face painting, live music, apple picking, tacos, and even alpacas — what more could you want in a festival? For more details or to download the entire visitor’s guide, head to their website now!

Heinen’s of Lake Bluff Fall Fruit & Veggie Fun Festival

When: October 22, 2017

Where: Lake Bluff, IL

First — try saying that name five times fast! Once you’re done doing that, grab the family and prepare for the ultimate ‘Sunday Funday.’ With a sweet potato Sundae bar, a Goji Berry Smoothie tasting, and My-Kinda-Mush Tortilla Pizza station, this tasting festival truly lives up to its name.

The Woodstock Fruit Festival

When: August 19-26, 2018

Where: Diamond Point, NY

This one is quite a ways away, but with a tagline like, “the Woodstock Fruit Festival will change your life,” how could we not include it? In addition to incredibly unique and delicious fruit, this festival focuses on bringing people who enjoy an entirely plant-based lifestyle together to share their ideas and passions. Participants are also encouraged to get up and start moving as the festival also offers numerous fitness classes, designed to “align your mind, body, and soul.”

Can’t make it to any of these festivals? Not a problem! You can still get your hands on fresh fruit by heading over to Fruit Bouquets, now with our signature fall collection available!
