How To Plan the Ultimate Father’s Day BBQ

June 5, 2017

He was there when you took your first steps, when you rode a bike for the first time, and when you scored the winning goal at your soccer game. We’re talking about your dad, of course! In honor of all the times he was there to support you, it’s time to show dad how much you appreciate him with an out-of-this-world Father’s Day barbecue! To make your party planning just a little easier, we’ve made a list of everything you’ll need to make dad feel like the most special man in the world — because after all, he is!

Have a Theme

Is your dad a baseball fan? What about cars or golf? Sure Father’s Day is already kind of the theme, but show dad how much you really care about him by decorating the party with his favorite thing in the world (other than you, of course!).

Leave Someone Else in Charge of Cooking

If your dad is usually the one in charge of the grill, give him a break and try your hand at cooking. Before you get nervous, remember that you don’t have to be a professional chef to make something everyone will love. Grilled chicken or hamburgers and hot dogs will keep any dad happy. As the expression goes, “I love any meal I didn’t have to make myself.”

Stock the Cooler

Is there a beer your dad absolutely loves, but is a little expensive, or maybe hard to find? Surprise him by filling the cooler with his favorite drink. But make sure there are also plenty of other options, like water and soda. And if you’re looking to save a little on the drink budget, leave a pitcher of homemade sangria out instead of having an open bar.

Make it Kid-Friendly

Father’s Day isn’t just about dad, it’s also about his family. Activities like pin the tie on dad, and a coloring station (so that all the kids can make their dad a picture) will be a big hit among the little ones.

Create a “Thank You” Video

This one will take a little planning, but it will be well worth it once you show dad the final product. A week or two before Father’s Day, record your friends and family saying what they love about the man of honor. Really impress him by asking friends who live far away to record themselves and send it to you. Then, cut all the videos together and show it to him the night of his party.

Celebrate in Style

After a heavy meal of hamburgers and hot dogs, your guests will probably be in the mood for something light and sweet. A decadent fruit bouquet is the perfect, shareable way to let everyone snack on their favorite summer fruits. And for any dad with a sweet tooth, let him know that he’s number one in the best way possible — by writing it out in OREO® cookies!

From our Fruit Bouquets family to yours, we’re wishing everyone a very happy and healthy Father’s Day!
